3/26/2020 Parents and Students,
Here is the timeline for remote learning, which was sent out to us by WCPSS. Please know that the district has been working hard to ensure our students have basic needs met first. In the meantime, students have been asked to keep their minds engaged in material. Moving forward the timeline for students is as follows: Week of March 23-27
Continue optional practice and review via WCPSS Remote Learning Resources website. (Or resources I have provided at the bottom of this page)
High School students, access the College Board AP site for review resources; live review courses beginning March 25.
Week of March 30-April 3
Continue practice and review opportunities. (see Google Classroom)
Beginning April 3, High School AP students can begin registering for remotely-administered AP exams (45-minute online free response).
Check out laptops from schools for students in need, coordinated by the WCPSS Technology Services Division.
Access training on remote learning platforms that will be provided by the district.
April 1-3: As assignments are posted or communicated by teachers, begin reviewing and referencing materials in preparation for remote learning.
Week of April 6-10
Traditional Schools - Spring Break for students and staff. Week of April 13-17
Traditional Schools – Launch full Continuous Remote Learning
3/25/2020 Students, In preparation for being out of school until MAY 15(!), I have set up google classroom. I sent instructions to any email addresses I had for you - for most of you that meant your SCHOOL E-MAIL address. PLEASE CHECK THAT SO YOU CAN JOIN OUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM. I have also reached out to those of you who have missing work with how you can complete that - if you have not heard from me, it is because I used your school e-mail address and you need to check that! :)
I hope you are doing well and that you are taking care of yourselves. 🐟
3/19 /2020 Parents and students, I hope you are at home safe and healthy. Some of you are wondering what to do with your time while out of school. I do not know the future of our school year or how long we will be out of school. Please know I have no expectations of you at this time to complete any work or curriculum. I do not want to cause you any stress about any unfinished grades or assignments. Please always refer to messages from WCPSS for the most up-to-date guidance on school matters. For those of you who would like to keep up with the math curriculum as we were intending to finish this semester, I can recommend learning, practicing, and self-assessing through Khan Academy. Please know this is not a requirement nor an approach to online schooling, but a suggestion in response to some requests I have received. You can proceed through the units at your own pace, and only if you choose to at all. Each unit has numerous video lessons, with accompanying practice, a quiz or two, and a unit test.
For Math 3 Honors:
We left in the middle of the circles part of our unit 6. The circles unit on Khan Academy can be found here. You can go through all of the topics, many of which we covered, or choose only the ones we had not yet covered.
Unit 7 ventures into the unit circle and graphs of trigonometric functions. Here it is.
We left at the end of Unit 7 and were finishing the last day of Parametrics. The video for this is posted on our YouTube Channel. You can keep checking back here and the channel for video updates.
Unit 8 covers Conic Sections - this is a look into equations of circles (which we did in Math III), a more in-depth look into equations of parabolas, and new to you is equations of ellipses and hyperbolas. The conics unit on Khan Academy can be foundhere.
Finally, Unit 9 covers sequences and series and can be found here and here.
I will be in touch if I know anything more about how schooling and the semester is to proceed. Until then, do not let math class be the source of any anxiety. We will all get through this with kindness and grace. Try to stay active, eat healthy, and enjoy a little sunshine (while also keeping your distance). If you are in need of food, please see the plan from WCPSS.
